Lawrence M. Heim
Lawrence M. Heim, CPEA has 35 years professional experience in environmental/sustainability systems and auditing and risk management. In his current position as Director of Partnerships & Innovation at the Responsible Business Alliance, he is responsible for expanding collaborative opportunities with other industry associations providing support to members in responsible minerals sourcing, auditing and environmental/social/governance (ESG) matters. Mr. Heim is also the author of Killing Sustainability, published in 2018.

Managing Director, Elm Sustainability Partners LLC (2008 – 2020)
Full management responsibility for Elm’s sustainability and responsible sourcing practice. Provided consulting support to numerous Fortune 500 companies for responsible sourcing, conflict minerals compliance and auditing, and environmental/health/safety risk management. Selected by the US Securities and Exchange Commission as the only non-financial auditor on the expert panel providing testimony on the conflict minerals proposed rule. Provided responsible sourcing and auditing advice to the US Department of State, US Government Accountability Office (GAO), the US Department of Commerce and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Led company branding and marketing efforts through social media, speaking engagements, publications and media presence.

Full management responsibility and service delivery of environmental and sustainability risk consulting services within the world’s largest insurance brokerage firm. Adapted traditional risk management tools, concepts and frameworks to client environmental/sustainability matters. Supported company branding and marketing efforts through speaking engagements and publications.

In-house corporate environmental affairs staff as internal environmental auditor and waste management subject matter expert. Supported the company redesign of its environmental performance metrics. Served as the company representative to the US Technical Assistance Group for the ISO Environmental Performance Metrics Standard development and to the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Life Cycle Assessment tool development and launch.
